The 2017 National Science and Technology Awards Conference was held at the Great Hall of the People on January 8, 2018. Yuji won the second prize of the 2017 National Technology Invention Award with the project “Environmentally Friendly Fluorine Materials Catalytic Synthesis Technology and Its Industrialization”.

The project aims to protect the atmospheric ozone layer and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. To solve this two worldwide problems, Yuji selected one fluorine-containing substitute through researching many safe and efficient HCFC alternatives with zero DOP, lower GWP and successfully developed corresponding manufacturing technology. Yuji obtained the patent of this technology and it was launched in 2013. The product is widely used in refrigeration, etching and cleaning industries. It can reduce million tons of CO2 emissions per year and achieve huge economic benefits. Yuji has been granted 34 (6 international) invention patents and has published more than 60 SCI papers.

Yuji has been engaged in the R&D and industrial application of fluorine-containing compounds for many years. It has been driven by the country’s major demands and has taken a frontier in fluorine chemical industry. A series of major innovation achievements were obtained, which helps to promote fluorine chemical technology breakthrough and leapfrog development.
