Various Application of HCFO-1233zd(Z)

HCFO-1233zd(Z), cis-1-Chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene, is a novel Hydro-Fluoro-Olefin. It is a kind of colorless, odorless, clear liquid at room temperature and the B.P. is 39℃. It belongs to next-generation fluorinated solvent that achieves both excellent environmental performance (ODP≈0, GWP<1, lifetime=12days) and high cleaning performance (KB=34). Meanwhile, it is absolutely safe, with no flash point, non-flammability, low toxicity and compatible with different materials. HCFO-1233zd(Z), as an alternative to those traditional cleaning agents, such as CFCs, HCFCs, HFCs, can effectively work on oil, ink and flux etc.

Degreasing: HCFO-1233zd(Z) can dissolve processing oil (cutting oil, spindle oil, hydraulic oil) more rapidly than other current cleaning agents, including HCFC-225ca/cb and HFC-365mfc. If we let the stainless-steel wire mesh be coated with oil and immersed in different cleaning agents for only seconds and then measure the remaining weight after drying, it could be found that the rapid degreasing ratio of HCFO-1233zd(Z) could achieve a higher level than that of others.

Cleaning ink: Due to HCFO-1233zd(Z)’s high solubility and low surface tension, the main principle of ink cleaning is dissolution or desorption from the matrix surface and the matrix can be optical lenses (made of PC substrates), fabric or cloth, metal parts and so on. Various optical lenses are immersed in HCFO-1233zd(Z) for over 24 hours and it could be found that the solvent just only dissolved the ink marks and did not work on any coatings, such as hydrophobic and oleophobic coating, anti-scratch coating, anti-reflection coating and discoloration coating.

Cleaning flux: The flux left on the surface of electronics will influence the circuit and the quality when in use. The mixture of HCFO-1233zd(Z) and other organic solvent can easily clean the flux.

The environmental policy has limited the use of industrial product with high GWP in more and more countries. Therefore, HCFO-1233zd(Z) must be one of the most competitive alternatives in the cleaning industry.
